I have 2 new fronts for the first time in a 55 1 is 1 inch the other is 1.5 inch I have a 2 inch female con in with them no problems but I want to get some more fish . But was thinking the new mates should be as small as the fronts?? or will it matter? here soon I will be getting a 150.:D

PLEASE remove those convicts. you have disaster on your hands. as for your request on tankmates, i keep the following with mine:
Altolamprologus Calvus
Neolamprologus Leleupi
Neolamprologus Brevis
Neolamprologus Caudopunctus
Julidochromis marlieri
Julidochromis ornatus
Julidochromis dickfieldi
Labidochromis careoleus
Copadichromis borleyi
Clown Loaches
Clown Plecos
Female Betta
Madtom Catfish
Apple Snails

i gotta have my loaches and catfish. i have one last apple snail baby from my moster snail that died. they are now illegal to buy and sell so i have to keep this one alive. ive only got 9 loaches

Toehead.... Do your cichlids eat the snails? I used mystery snails to cycle my tank way back when.. Now all I have is empty shells. I've tried to reintrduce snails to hopefully eat algae behind rocks on the glass. The minute they hit the water all my fish hammer them. It is cool to watch, but at the same time a pain.

I have my 6" front in with an 10" Oscar, 6" JD, 2 large Silver Dollars, 4" Sunfish, 5" rainbow fish & 7" sun cat that stays under a log all day. I had the O first and put the front in later when I got a good deal on him. They are all in a 150g tank and get along fine. I feed them an assortment of foods, but never anything live. The O is by far the biggest and fastest grower, but he is not a bully by any means and so far so good.

I know it is not species specific, but I tried all those different species tanks in the past and I like a mix of fish now. I have quite a bit of filtration and the water is crystal clear, PH, Ammonia, etc, etc, etc, is all good. I'm not into testing that much, I just watch the fish to see if they eat and appear healthy, if so, all is good.

Best of luck

Dan

I wouldn't give them any tankmates. make an awesome frontosa colony. At most add a compressiceps or two
