Frontosa compatability with other africans

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Where I used to work they had a few fronts in a large tank with mix mbuna and they looked horrible and constantly stressed out. I have kept mbuna peacocks, haps and etc in combinations before. The Malawi and fronts just did not mix well for me. The peacock and front mix I had at one point was fine. I have a hap in my front tank with a syno catfish and they do fine. They are also in a 150gal. I found my fronts did best growing out in a colony and with less aggressive fish. I kept a mix of other Tanganyika's with my fronts before and that was fine as well. It might work once in a blue moon for someone, but for all the reasons previously listed I just wouldn't do it. Frontosa are also just one of those fish that is best kept in a colony in large tank. I kept one by itself once and it just seemed to do a lot better after I added other frontosa to the tank. I enjoy my tank a lot. If you ever have a large spare tank to give a colony a shot though I would recommend it. Good luck =]
