Hi guys, Ive had my frontosas for awhile now, and have been feeding generic "cichlid" food to them. Obviously considering myself a somewhat respectable aquarist, I would like to offer them something more nutritional and more personalized to their specific needs. I have feed krill, and had some success with frozen baby peas. Any recommendations?

Dainichi color fx 3mm pellets or nls 3mm. Either of these pellets are an excellent staple. Supplement with Hikari biopure krill and mysis.

When I use to keep them, I tried lots of different high protein foods. My guys and gals even loved to eat earthworms (I kept the worms in damp corn meal for several days to get rid of the injested soil). Use to have a line on sea urchant row so they ate that as a treat too. I also feed them a mash of garlic and sweet pea that I would freeze and then feed to them....my Vics really love that combo.

i was actually in the market for the same thing. i really wanted to try NLS but no one in the Houston area sold NLS so i was forced to look online. i just couldnt bring myself to spend $25 + on food for my fish. dont get me wrong i want the best for them i really do, but to spend that much money on fish food, it was just not in the budget for me this time. so i went to the best fish store in Houston and talked to the biologist and he tells me all sorts of stuff, i told him my kind of fish, and he explained to me that any kind of feed with a good amount of Spirulina and Omega's in it was just fine. he did say to stay away from fatty acids and so on. he showed me this product by Nutrifin Max cichlid feed sticks. he said for the best bang for the buck this was it. i read the back and this stuff is paked full of vitamins and everything needed for a healthy diet for fronts and all other Tangy species. i do want to try NLS and i will one day but for now i have to go this route. here is the website, it even has a PDF chart in the bottom that is species specific for food. i dont know if anyone has ever used Nutrafin in the past and been disapointed but this is the new product line with improved ingrediants http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/nutrafinmax/nutrafinmax.cfm
