LOL @ Biologist running a fish store...
he is a biology professor at U of H and co-owner of the biggest fish store in Houston TX. lets not redirect the thread

U of H? Hawaii at manoa? Thats a hell of a commute... Just kidding ik that you meant Houston.

Back to the fish it looks like I will but some Danichi or whatever, but I was mainly interested in things like vegetables. Mine do graze on the natural algae...and have had peas. But like I sad. Sometimes they get krill, and sometimes mysis (one is only a couple inches long). I was also wondering about freshwater food soaks. Sometimes I give left over krill thats been soaked in selecon to them, and this clouds the water a little (not a big deal I do a 30% water change daily) but it says on the bottle its ONLY for saltwater. Any similar products for freshwater you guys use or reccomend? Thanks for the info so far

NLS is over rated
To each his own. I have been feeding NLS exclusively to my large predatary haps for three years now and have not lost a fish. Agaibn I do weekly water changes and I really think that is the secret. But again to each his own.

I have used the cheap stuff over the years, and the expensive stuff.
in 30 years of having fish, in all honesty my fish still breed the same, live the same and are colored the same.

don't stress out about what food to use.
whatever your store sells, or whatever deal you can find, the fish will be fine with it.

Make sure the food sinks. Frontosa are not naturally near the surface. When they have to go to the surface to get their food sometimes they'll accidentally injest air.
What would be the scientific name for this "injesting of air"? also i have heard that frontosa's will get a diseas called "Float" from feeding off the top of the water. is this only with wild caught frontosa or is this for all?
