OK, Good to know......maybe a dumb question, but what is NLS?? He does take freeze dried krill....if any makes its way to the bottom, and of course frozen bloodworms that hit bottom.....I will pick up some hikari sinkers.....Thanks again! Here's a pic of my new addition! He looks really good under the LED lighting!

Make sure you don't let him get bloodworms too often. Their systems aren't really made for that and it could cause internal problems. Offer veggies and algae wafers(sinking, of course).

One of the reasons not directly mentioned for not feeding your frontosa's surface food is float or air bladder issues. Some think the ingestion of air can help lead to the condition. Certain types seemed predisposed like Mpimbwes. It also seems to be related to stress and my personal opinion improper collection.

Feed sinking pellets.

Here's a video, unfortuneately I have had to puncture a number of air bladders with fronts before.

Holy crap dude. I'm too squeemish to so something like that. You've got bigger cajones than I do.

What were your survival rates like after performing that procedure?

100% 8 of 8, squeamish I'm not I an orthopaedic surgery resident. But honestly, it is easy and you don't need the MD to do it. You just feel for the largest pocket of air or most prominent area, stick a sterile needle in and squeeze out the air. You can see the animal deflate and if in water you actually see air bubbles come out of the needle from the fish. The first time I was a little wary, but after that no big deal.

I feed mine nls hikari pellets, hikari bloodworm, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, they get everything lol an will sometimes surface but are pretty skittish enjoy ur frontosas!!!

We also feed ours scud or fresh water shrimp they love them just wash them real good.
