I have a 5" Frontosa that I got about 2 years ago. Very slow growing, mine is a male, and killed the other 2 frontosas I had in the tank. May dump all of my Malawi cichlids, and start fresh with 10-12 small fronts.

yeah the only thing I dont like about frontosa.
takes too long for them to grow big and big ones cost a lot.

Yeah, i had the same problem. Kept 5 together in a 20g at 2.5 inches. Kept for 16 months and transferred to a 75g. Alpha male is 6 inches. Meanwhile, 2 females are 4 inches. Growth depends on colony. I've also seen cases with a 7 inch alpha male with 3-4inch females that were purchased around the same time. My suggestion is to just go out and buy a large frontosa if you're that into it. It would cost around 70-100 USD. That's nothing when you consider it's going to take you 2-3 years to get that big.

Just wanted to add, i had my frontosa's for almost 2 years. when i first got them they were about 2 inches. Now one of them is 6" and some are 4" and some are 3.5". I feed them all at the same time with the same type of diet. I guess the more dominant male gets most of the food.
