Just bought two inkfin calvus about 1" in size and some really deep orange leleupi to add to my new 240 gallon tank that I'm just setting up.

Currently they're in my 55 gallon grow up with 9 2" burundi frontosa. I'm hoping to have my 240 set up by the end of the month. I also have 11 1" moba fry that I am picking up the 1st of december.

I'm undecided on whether or not i should mix the burundi with the mobas...
anyone got an opinion on this subject? I know I'd be able to tell the difference between the two variations but I would like some opinions as well...

What other types of Tangs would you guys recommend keeping with fronts? I know that a lot of tangs end up prey for fronts but because they are so small I believe it'd be years before I'd have to worry about the smaller fish becoming prey especially with lots of cover

Thanks

I would say no to mixing burundi's with mobas because they might eventually breed with each other in the future if youre keeping a colony. at that size however, I wouldnt worry about it yet. Also, pretty much for that size (2") you could mix it with about any mellowed tanganyika of the same size. I dont know if you know this yet but front's growth rate is slow.

Ya I know that fronts grow slow so do the calvus. I've been keeping fronts for a while but never mixed them they were only burundis. I figured that I could throw just about any tang in there for now but in about two years when the fronts are 7" I might be in some trouble.

thanks

I wouldn't mix them at any point. As adults they will cross, making the fry worthless. As far as mixing them now what happens if you get mixed up and a burundi sneaks in the group? People will be pissed if they end up with crossed fry. I'd sell the burundi and just keep the moba
