frontosa hold.......help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Can you tell us what conditions you used to get the fish to spawn?

I have a trio of F0 zire blue mombu frons ( I know it's spelled wrong ) and the are 7 or 8 inchs long ( age unknown ) and they seem to have no itrest in spawning. I keep them in a 135 gal tank with a water temp of 75deg. PH is 8.3

I have slow water movement to try and simulate their natural environment .
:newbie: to frons

i took my temp up to 80f and laid down a few flat large rocks.also its a bum deal but they need to pair up. try moving the male to a different tank for a few months. my male was in a different tank for 3 months after i got him. also i used very low light, they seem to spawn more when they think is night time. putting the back in the main tank will make the females fight for him.(they wont hurt each other only set the pecking order).

i have been breeding fronts for a while,i usually let the female hold for around 3-4 weeks and then seperate her from the rest of them give her a tank she hold for another week or so and will spit them out usally at night, when you put on the light she grabs them back.i have been lucky so far.hope it helps?
goodluck and god bless

Hey repair if you get sick of them I'll do you a favor and take them off your hands.

Thanks for the offer..... glad to see you thinking of others .

Well the male killed one of the females so I moved them into my 300 and they seem much happier and they are eating much better and they never hide now.

I'll be looking for some large female F0/F1 zire blues.

So how many homes did you buy so that you can house all your tanks???

All right repair I tried to help you out but it seems as if you are passing on the favor. I have ordered a few fry from the east coast and I should be getting them this week. So I won't be able to take them off you hands anymore. lol. Good luck finding a female, if I see one I'll let you know. BTW great idea! I would much rather have a garage full of tanks rather than a gargage full of junk
