My Moba's greet me every time I approach the tank. When I have friend over and they approach my tanks they tend to shy away for an hour or two. So I would say yes, they get comfortable with people the see every day. I think it may have something to do with learning and getting comfortable with the keepers movements.

I don't know about fronts but most large cichlids seem to recognize some people.

my front swims backwards across the tank and I go beep......beep......beep-like a truck backing up!He even backs into his parking space!lol He does recognize food when I hold it up to glass,and comes to take it from me almost every single time.When he doesn't,i'll stick my arm in the tank and put it to his mouth w/same result.How cool is that!
