Frontosa Kitumba Pop Eye

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't had time to go to petco or petsmart for this last couple of days, but I will go tonight or tomorrow for sure to buy the tetracycline.
Thanks sicksauce, I'll consider the mardel also

No problem. I believe Mardel uses tetracyline as a active, just read the label for active ingredient. FYi Mardel is the Brand and it has different types for different diseases. Good luck

keep us updated with how it goes. As for your question I don't know if you could use what you already have as I have never used it before. I have only used tetracycline for pop-eye so I can't speak for anything else. You really need to get on treating asap though its not something you should just let wait. Is your fish still eating right now?

Okay, I still haven't got any time to go to petco or petsmart. The last several days have been busy with all the TG shopping and stuff
However, I don't want to just stand there and watch her suffer so I have to take care of her with the resource that I have ATM. The good thing is she wants to eat, when I saw that I soak the pellet with metro and she eats it. I've been doing it for 3 days now, and I can see that she's getting better. I already can see her eye, no more cloudy eye.
Right now what I still using the melafix and pellet soak metro, and I am planning to keep her in the hospital tank for another week. Again, I'm still thinking about the tetracyline and will purchase it hopefully this week
My new question is when can I put her back in the main tank?? When the popeye completely gone or partially gone?

I would wait until it is 100% gone before adding her back in. Once she is back in keep an eye on her and watch hey eye. Glad to hear she is getting better!

Thanks Ash, even though she's better but her eye is still cloudy.
Just got back from Petco and they're not selling any tetracycline
I will try Petsmart tonight, hopefully they have it...

So I went home and looked at the hospital tank before I left the house again and found out that the hospital tank is full of white gooey and slimy stuff
I am not really sure what the heck was that, I thought I waited a bit and see what's that but the fish tried to jump or leap from the water. As soon as I saw that, I did 80-90% water change.
Does anyone know what's that slimy gooey thingy?? I didn't use any filtration just water movement and heater on the tank...

The tank is unfiltered so will get all that goop that goes along with cycling. If you don't use filters you need to do a near complete water change each day or the ammonia will make it difficult for the cloudiness to clear up. Petsmart with have maracyn 2 which will be the most effective antibiotic you will find in chain stores. Kanamyacin is much better but you have to order it. Before your next water change measure the ammonia in the tank

Can't find the tetracyline anywhere, but I bought the maracyn2 because that's the only thing I can found on Petsmart
It's been 4 days since I started the treatment, and will do the water change on the 5th day. I am also still doing the pellet soak metro. I really hope this combination work fast and better...
