I just picked up a baby Frontosa from my LFS, and he's going on his 3rd day in the tank, and he still will not eat. Anyone have any suggestions on feeding for him? I'm trying a high quality Cichlid flake, but he won't take it. He has started to come out into the middle of the tank more, so maybe he was just stressed? I used aquarium salt, raised the temp a bit and kept the lights off, and it seemed to help a bit.

Is the frontosa in a community tank?
Is the frontosa wild caught?
My guess is the frontosa is just stressed out, I never had any problems with fish eating, but then again, I always used NLS,

I fed all my front fry NLF Thera-a and they loved it, then moved to a krill sinking pellet formula. Frontosas like dimmer tanks and I never see mine come up for food. So try a smaller pellet with the lights off and in no time he should warm up to it.

Give it time. It will eat sooner or later.

yes frontosa's do that often, but if they dont eat after 4-5 days something isn't right, i have 18 of them and i love these guys very much...good luck!

try nls thera a, fronts need sinking pellets to avoid float anyways
good advice here... are you giving him sinking... because fronts do not usually come to top to eat... and they shouldn't because of bloat.. and when stressed they won't come up anyway.. so try different sinking food.. small pellet..

i just got one monday and it wont eat either. the flakes are cichlid omni formula. it's really active and never hides from me, it just wont eat.

I had a couple do that I put them in a hospital tank and treated them with life guard and with in two days they where eating. I always put any fish I get from a LFS in a quartine tank just to make sure they are fine and don't have any dieases.
