I have a frontosa female that has been holding since July 21.
I moved her from my main tank to a 80x40x40cm tank. My plan was just letting her take her time with the fry, but if i wanted to strip the fry, could i just do it and let them swim around the tank, or is a basket still nessecery when the fry are this old? Tank temperature is around 27 degrees.

If she has been holding since July 21, the fry are a month old and should be fully developed by now. You should strip her and leave the babies to grow out in their own tank. Overdue holding can starve both the mother and the fry, and is not good for either. You are lucky to have a good mother as many frontosa females will not hold and abort the underdeveloped eggs. What type of Frontosa do you have?

They are Burundi. Yeh she seems like a good mother. Anything to know before stripping. Read a guide on how to do it that seemed good. I was just afraid that they could not do without the mother, or a small basket, but if their fully developed and they can just swim around in the 80cm tank them selves thats good, if not i have to wait to tomorrow and get a basket.
