Thats some good info Liz. Pics (I know they are coming LOL) will go good with that list . Did you arrange that list in any specific order or can we list the different regions variants in order of availability or most commonly kept ? The ones a hobbyist is most likely to encounter followed by the more rarer forms ? I know they often change but I have noticed that there are certain variants for example : Moba, mpimbwe, burundi etc. that are much more common for the new hobbiest. Some of those variants listed are very rare or have gone out of fashion and its much less likely the hobbiest would be obtaining them etc...

That would be great if you have that info.... anything you can add or think of including pics or a special order is very helpful..

Can we do a poll ? Maybe a poll of what they believe the most commonly found of each group and poll of what they actually keep themselves would be a good idea.

Moba might be kind of hard for example, it is the most sought after front of them all right now but its harder to get WC for example. I dont even know anyone off the top of my head that keeps Zambians , i did hear they were sought after about 10 or 15 yrs ago but now those people are looking for tanz and zaires etc...

.It might be harder than it sounded now that i think about it. Get some imput from others on it since its not as important info as what we have all ready been gathering.

I think right now we are in the gathering of information stage... we need lots of good honest data.. then i am going to have you try to sort it out and organize it..:ROFL:well i was hoping anyway.. i am just about to do a little info on Zambia Gibberosa variant.. but cannot find any pics ... but at least i will get this little info out of the way..

I will be more than happy to help where ever i can LOL. I am still pretty new to frontosa keeping. I have the experiences i have learned over the past year of front keeping that i call on and pass along to others but the rest of my information on fronts comes from paying attention to what others who have kept them longer than me have to say. I have a very big experience in keeping cichlids in general (20 + yrs) but only recently got into the africans in the last year or so. I think most of the fish keeping skills a person learns from keeping other cichlids applies to africans and therefore frontosa with a few exceptions related to personality and their non aggressiveness to other species of fish in general. I personally feel that if a person has good overall skills as far as maintaining a tank and knowing about fish in general (what common diseases and problems look like ) then frontosa should be a fish that is easily kept by fish keepers with a general knowledge base. They should not have to be a best kept secret by only the most experienced fish keepers in the hobby.

well you are doing extremely well and i agree with you completely... and as long as you keep listening and learning.. you will always be ahead of the game...just don't keep all that knowledge to yourself ...but share it with all the folks just starting out.
