I wanted Blue Zaires , too expensive , got some Burundis instead . They are by far the best and smartest fish I have . Easy to take care of . Good luck

That is true. But if you do your research you can find the blue varients for the same price or cheaper then Burundi's from a breeder. Assuming you bought the Burundi's from a LFS.

F1 fry ???

Why aren't you showing a nice looking Moba avatar ??

Girlfriend cann't find the damn camera. I have lost out on a few sales. It will only help me later on though. Bigger fish fetch bigger money ;) .

I just got rid of that Front too. I wish I could have kept him. But he was trying to eat my tropheus.

BTW I have Mpimbwe as well. One thing to watch out for though, make sure yours doesn't have what is called mooning. Look for white spots on the black stripe. Some say they will go away as they grow but it isn't always the case.

Once the weather warms up I'll ship to CA. I have a buddy that's done it a million times.

Zaire's are at the top for demand. They're also the most expensive. My LFS is selling wild caught adults for 350 USD. Which is a good deal, i guess. If you can manage to breed those, the fry would sell very well on such sites like aquabid, etc... On the bottom of the ladder is burundi and mpimbwe. Burundis are the cheapest frontosas and are commonly available and encountered at most common stores. The burundi has been captive bred so much that the extent of its coloration is pretty much bleeched out. Almost no blue and it's features are more round and robust. They do carry one of the best nuchal humps though. The Kigoma or 7 stripe is probably the longest and largest frontosa. The nuchal hump on the 7 strip is enormous, almost like it's balancing a cereal bowl on it's head. Their coloration is also not impressive, mainly white with a subtle haze of blue. If you like hump and shear size check out the 7 stripe. If color is what you're looking for try the zaire, or bismarck blue frontosa. They're stripes and base color really stand out, so much contrast, on top of that they have amazing blue rays and head. Very nice fish, but pricey for that reason.

I never really seen Kigoma humps bigger then Burundi's. It's the Burundi that is known to have the extremely big hump. And I wouldn't consider Mpimbwe to be on the bottom of the ladder either.

I carry Zaires kitumbas and kapampas, the look very much like the Mobas. All three are pretty expensive, but worth every bit of them.

You can find Burundis just about everywhere. Kigomas are popular too. If you want bluer fish, but can't afford the zaires, go for the Mpimbwes and Blue Bismarks...they are pretty popular fish and is in good demand.

There are many variants of fronts, many are hard to find. I'd stick with the popular varients since it makes it easier to find to add more fronts to your colony, expecially if you want to change bloodlines.;)

hey fin good to see you here :D ..

well choices when it comes to frontosa is like saying which cookie do i like best, but no matter what you want to eat them all, so sooner or later you will end up haveing more then one varient of frontosa, maybe not at the same time but it is a addiction , well it was for me.

but here are some of my old ones, maybe it can help your choice

Burundi, which i think is one of the best varient, may not have the best color but they sure get the biggest hump..
