Did you know that fish can get actual viral warts? They don't go away though.
Since at least one patch has healed on it's own I am still leanind towards dermacystidium for which I have seen no cure listed anywhere. It does not kill but can lead to secondry infections. While there is no cure it does go away on it's own.
I think of it like the fish version of herpes.
