I always buy Hikari Bloodworms for my tanks, but yesterday i went with the Fish Gum Drops multipack to test their vegetable medley out on my CLs.

When i feed frozen foods i take a cup of tank water and disolve a few cubes in it and then pour a little in each tank. Yesterday I did 6. 2 of each in the pack, Bloodworms, veggie, and Brine Shrimp. I even gave a little to all my Bettas as a treat.

Well son of a ***** I'm LOADED with Trumpet snails today. I didn't think it was possible. The tank with the largest CL doesn't have a one I can see, but the light on that tank is on a timer so they could be hidden. by now. The other tanks are all teaming with babies. My Betta bowls even have babies in them.

I just couldn't be happier. Anybody else ever pick up snails from frozen food?

I never had snails but I have had blood worm eggs in my frozen blood worms. After cleaning my filters in my shower, the live bloodworms survived in the drain trap. Then all of a sudden, I had a midge swarm in my bathroom. :irked:

I collect from my ten g. And throw in my Puffer tank :) Am greatful they are free :)

Howdy,

Here is a theory:

MTSs come from a tropical climate. Thus, I deem it highly unlikely that they survive in a frozen stage, even as eggs. I rather believe you've always had MTSs in your tank without seeing them. They live in the substrate and only occasionally come out. Frozen foods often leave more leftovers than other types of feed. The MTSs feasted on the leftovers, which boosted their daytime activity & reproduction.
