Hello,

I'm pretty sure my FRT got skin fungus. Yesterday I cleaned off all the white spots on her. Today it has all grown back in the same area, tip of the nose, flippers. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CURE HER? She is eating. Turtle is about 3" shell. I do have 5g QT to use.

You'll most likely have to get it from your pharmacy...

Terramycin ( Tetracycline Hydrochloride ).........
Terramicin does NOTHING against any kind of "fungus" and it may not even be fungus for starters, many times is a bacterial infection (to wich more often then not, terramicine its just as futile). All you need is a bucket full of salt water, do it your self or go get it from the sea in a non poluted area and give your turtle many 20-30minutes salt water baths true out the day, also make shure your water is hard, SPARKLY clean and at the same temp as the water in bucket. And dont scrape the skin of your turt, it does very litle to stop it as you already seen

I got some API Fungus Cure (acriflavine) last night and I have my FRT in 46g bow front. I also added Aquarium Salt. 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. I put 9 Tablespoons in. Temp is in the high 80's - around 87-89. Do I need to do more or is this enough to cure her? Thanks for any input.

Insted of modifying the water in your main tank, except for ading some salt you should treat your turtle in a separate bugget like I told you earlier and put her in there for 20 minutes periods. Acriflavine is ok and you should use it just like the salt water

By the way I supose your turt is small but a 40 gallon tank is really tiny for a fly even a small one. Also make partial water changes every day wich will make life dificult for the patogens and get a larger tank

Thanks for the input. The 46g is for my flowerhorn, I’m just using it as med tank because the turtle comes before my flowerhorn. The white spots on the flippers are already going away, only some spots left on the flippers and tip of the nose. I would have used your salt bath, but didn’t know how much salt to use and wanted to put her on meds ASAP. The turtle is going into my 170 when it heals up.
