they are illegal..... you can go to jail for keeping one. you should kill or donate it before something bad happens.
What the hell? They are not illegal, FRTs purchased in good faith from sellers within the USA are assumed to be legal unless proven otherwise.
Also, if they were illegal just who would you donate it to?
I don't think that Fish head soup was spamming at all, my reaction towards your very strange advice and erroneous information was much the same as his.

The problem is that an overzealous USFWS enforcement officer can assume that your FRT was imported in violation of the Lacey Act if you don't have documentation of its legality. The Lacey Act prohibits the importation of wildlife in violation of international (e.g., CITES) or other countries' laws (e.g., individual export prohibitions of Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia). Documentation of legality rarely exists because the recent CITES II listing only occurred last year. However, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia have had export prohibitions for years. (See Phil's earlier discussion noting that the Indonesian prohibition does not apply to captive-hatched young.) My advice is to have documentation or be very careful.

I was very surprised in my previously described telephone conversation with USFWS that USFWS was taking such a hardlined approach with respect to FRTs. I'm not sure if it is just one overzealous agent or the "unofficial" stance of the agency as a whole. The agent with whom I spoke implied that it was the latter. :(

It'll be a big help if you print out the CITES II convention on FRTs and the Lacey Act. Highlight the points pertinent to exporting from Indonesia. With this info, an agent will be forced to follow the written law instead of their memory of the law's intentions.

i will do i already have all the cites laws saved on my com for quick reference i will have to go through and highlight it though my local usfws agent is pretty cool so i shouldnt have a problem and i will only sell to certain people if i can afford to i would rather not sell any but i dont think that i could i wold have to sell a few to get some of my loss back
