Now on a local forum, I asked about Fly River turtles in Canada, to which they said that it's illegal to import them and what not. So I guess the only way to acquire one if from someone that really needs to get rid of it. Pretty hard to find any here

What's it like down in the states? easier to find and own?

I know Vince has a couple nice ones

Harder to find in states. They are banned from exportation at home for many years now, basically anything under full size is exported illegally. They are not illegal to purchase on our end even at small sizes I think. That's USA end I assume the same of Canada. Expensive.

Yeah I was talking to a local shop and they said this guy was trying to sell some for like $3000 lol

That's more than I'd expect to pay... These are beautiful, expensive creatures. They are equipped to kill fish very easily, even if they are not predisposed to it I wouldn't keep them with my rays.

Yes I agree. They are very beautiful creatures
I've seen them kept with rays, if I had a frt I would only keep them with rays in a big tank

You are a brave man. There are a few that have had it work but many that have come home to dead and mauled rays. I'd love a FRT again in the future but they won't be anywhere near my rays.

Haha if he bites any of my future rays, he'll be for dinner that night

They pop up fairly regularly here in the states. I know a member on here has two smaller ones with his ray and was selling them at a very fair price (under $15000 for both). If you check fauna regularly you should be able to snag one.

Damn $15k eh. Getting caught at the border with them wouldn't be very nice lol
