Forget the plant cover though. FRTs will eat most plants down to the gravel. The only plants I've been able to keep with them are FW onion plants and above water bog plants.
Just bumping an old thread, i was thinking about an frt also and was wondering what people have theirs with
my current stock i would like to add a frt too.
17" Clown Knife
12" Albino Clown Knife

12" Rope Eel
?" Peacock Eel- I think....
6" Salvini Cichild
5" Clown loach
The general attitude with reptiles is that they don't well with tankmates, even if it is their own species.
FRT is no exception.
If you really want to "mix" them, why not just get a BIG aquarium or an enclosure and place a divder in between them and make it look like the turtle is defending his or her territory or something. I have seen people do it with their turtle enclosures as well as their bearded dragon vivariums.
when listing your possible tank mates there ask your self if they are expandable... if you don't care if they end up dead then mix them... if it does bother you then don't if I ever was able to find one then it would live all by itself cause my fish are not expandable... its not if we think it will work or if you think it will its up to the turtle and that's a gamble I wouldn't take......
my frt ate his tank mate 2 weeks ago, 6 inch jardini, they lived together for about 6 months w/ no problems till one day the frt decided to eat the jardini. at least he ate the whole thing, no sign of the jardini except for part of the gill plate.
I hear mixed things about these turtles, some people swear by them some people have had there fish be lunch. i think it has alot to do with the personality of the turt.
