I've got about a fourteen inch male fly river turtle currently living in a big tank by itself. Eats pellet, cucumber, lettuce, pear and especially loves banana!

Anyone ever try keeping other turtle species in the same tank as an FRT?

This turtle has beat up a lot of fish so it currently has a 150g tank to itself. I'd love to get a big set-up going where I could establish some land areas for another species of warm-water turtle.

Share your experiences or recommendations. :)

Thought about it. My girlfriend hates it now. Gars tail fins are still growing back. :swear:

But I like it too much and it's never messed with anything other than slow fish like gar. It's lived fine with datnoids, pike cichlids, etc with no issues.

You could send it down my way. I've got a 220g almost set up.... ;)

it would be sweet in a 220. Even sweeter in my 500. but for now it stays in turtle prison. 150 is actually pretty good for it since there's nothing else. The tank is 2' wide and looks empty.

fine since u dont want to make soup from it send it my way.

Gary would put it in its place ;)

In all seriousness, I would think the only thing that would have a chance of mixing with it, besides another FRT, would be a mata mata, and I'm not so sure about that either.

Well if he dosent work out with other turtles. I will take him of you hands!!
i woundnt try it!

Wow lots of prospective adopters in this thread! :D

I think I will manage, even if I have to keep him in the 150 with some faster fish or no fish. :)
