In all seriousness, I would think the only thing that would have a chance of mixing with it, besides another FRT, would be a mata mata, and I'm not so sure about that either.
Not a mata, the water requirements are diferent. You should put him in the 500 alongside some nice mature FRT ladys:naughty: with babys 500 or so a pop you could do some stuff:D Ok now seriously if you do that be very causious about territorialitys and bear in mind the project could take many years untill something consistent comes out of it.

The 500 will be holding all the gar that he has previously nipped at. Now I know 8 x 4 is a lot bigger than 4 x 2, so i don't know if the extra space would help ease his aggression and give the fish more room to avoid him, if so I could try him there once the gars get a bit bigger, otherwise he can't go in the 500 :(

You might get all the gar established in the 500, and then try the FRT on a weekend when you can observe closely. If he doesn't bother them, keep watching him, and be ready to remove him back to the 150.

Otherwise, just go for faster fish that he's not likely to catch, or that are not that expensive/difficult to replace if he does catch them.

would never risk the gar again.

i have two different kinds dont know too much about them thay are currently in a 40 gal tank by themselves about four inches had them since i got them in panama city about three years ago but one is yellow and the other is the green with orange the typical one you could get down there not to much help but they been together for awhile i have one firemouth in the tank with them as well

There are people that have had groups for 20+ years under the right conditions, with no production........No way it's going to happen in a fish tank......

a 14" fly river in a 150g ??? isnt that a bit small.... but what do I know

I think 4' x 2' x 30" is pretty roomy for a single turtle, but then this is the only turtle I've kept so I don't claim to be experienced with them. I also bought the turtle with the intent of putting it in my 500 gallon aquarium, I was wrong about its compatibility with some of my stock and now I'm trying to give it the biggest home possible under the circumstances.

I still might give it a try in the 500 and keep the golden gar in the 150g until it is bigger, but for now the turtle seems fine.
