My frt has 3 rather large scrapes on his shell.
one of which you can tell is bleeding, or was. its just red now.

I dont really have anything in the tank that could do this to him fish wise, but I do have a peice of drfitwood hes always hiding under, i was thinking maybe it fell on him.

either way, whats the best method of treating his scrapes. my water is pristine, as I do w/c's enough to make any fish happy. But i just dont want an infection happening.

Sorry to hear that.Keeping the water clean is top priority for that kind of injury. That's all I have to offer.

Just went through the exact same thing with my buddies FRT (mauled by hungry cichlids), deep enough you could see the bone....we used Mardel's Maroxy and it healed up fine...

I do have some chichlids in the tank, but he was fine that day, I went out and picked up my 14" widebar, than i wake up this morning and hes got 3 cuts on his shell :(.

I'm gona do another w/c. and if I dont see it start clearing up, i'm gona take him outa the tank and rub some antibiotics on his shell.

if your waters clean i dont think you really need to do anything, maybe just figure out if his scapes were an accident or a fish isnt playing nice. if you want you could swab it with some hydrogen peroxide and apply some antibacterial ointment. but idk if the white petroleum jelly in the ointment will have an affect on waterquality for your fish.

edited bro

just saw it, Worse comes to worse and he getts a horrible infection, i'd run over to alfons house, or i'd give him a call and he could get me something good.

I'm gona take him out tomorrow when I do my w/c and rub some hydrogen peroxide on the scrapes, ( not alot, but enough ).

than dab it off, and put him back in.
