My three year old male snapper loves fruits and veggies. I was wondering is there anything that should be avoided. I fed him a cherry tomato yesterday and he ate it without hesitation. I wasn't sure if certain fruits/veggies should be avoided because of high acidity like a tomato. Now I'm not talking about as a staple its just as a treat. What do you think.

Thye eat vegetables, mostly the ones found in water. Mine eat water hyacinths and water lettuce as if there is no tomorrow.

I would not feed them fruit, however. Does not "feel" natural, imo

I wasn't to sure. I can't tell by his preference because he eats anything that goes in the tank. I have been feeding a staple pellet with market prawns and plenty of greens like kale and mustard greens but wasn't sure about the fruit. Thanks for the reply.

I saw this vid in which they say the snapper showed on it was fed wit sweet potatoes and the caparace of that tutr had this beautiful reddish color so i have been thinking on giving my Snapper some sweet potatoe.

I have fed my snapper with elodea mainly and no other vegetable so far...

Cheers.

my snapper would eat anything that I put in his tank including the airline tubing. I dont think it is a good idea to feed him too much veggies since they are 95% carnivores in the wild.

No don't get me wrong I do feed a staple diet appropriate to snappers I was just saying as a treat. I do no that there natural diet does consist of some vegetation so I do give greens.

It's funny. I brought him home a few years ago and my wife freaked, and I mean freaked. She knew what type of turtle it was and what it would need to keep for life. I caught hell. Now when she comes home from work she will walk straight pass me and not even say hello to go see "her turtle". I think she would get rid of me before "her Rocky".
