That’s got to be the most sensible thing I’ve read regarding food for arowana.
Pellets or a variety, I know if I starved mine until it gave in, as soon as I gave it something else I would have to starve it again to eat pellets.
It eats everything but pellets.
My aro used to eat prawns but when I started feeding superworms that's all he would he eat. He sometimes takes a piece of shrimp in his mouth but he seldom eats it. I think that he has become addicted to the superworms (live food). I have to gut load them to give the aro a varied diet. Pellets he just turns his nose up to. Stuck up aro.

In my experience, if you get a fish hooked on pellets while its still young, it will accept pellets just as happily as other foods... but im sure the outcome will be different between individuals.
Currently, all the arowana i own accept pellets with just as much zeal as they would accept prawn, squid, beef anything... and that includes a big RTG
order the pelletws direct from the company (ie. hikari) NOT a retail shop...much cheaper that way..u can save about 30-40%.....but if u just wana feed shrimps there is nothing wrong with that...ure choice... :s
I don't know the name of them but you could get a fiilter which will skim the top (cylinder filter?) they hang on the edge of your tank. if the grime on the surface is anoying you.
Because you're running an FX5 you wouldn't need a big one, plus you can't have enough filterage.
