Fry for Food!!!

True enough i guess, but i wouldn't even be able to find a home for the selected ones. The tank that the fry would be in is a 75 gallon and it would only be the catfish in with them, i have the RBP in another tank. I might just say shag it and give away the male i have, his causing a fair amount of problems as is.

I agree with the idea of getting an oscar, I am actualy raising 6 convicts right now to get a breeding pair but then I have about 4 other fish that would love a half inch convict but I give the okay ones to the stores, great most awsome ones to raise and then the rest I would let them fight for survival in my oscar tank, only the sneakiest, fastest fish will survive if any.

I feed my convict fry to any of my other fish that will eat them. My africans will eat them when the fry are really small and my red devil will eat them anytime. But my oscar won't eat them no matter the size. I have no idea why. I do understand your dilemma though I love my convicts also, and love to watch them care for their young.

Use them as feeders! at least you know what water condition they are in and make sure they dont have disease. I used my convicts fry as Jaguar Food.

Wife hated the idea at first, until one day i caught her feeding the fry to my Jags...

The way I see it, anything that you need to cull back from your breeding should be fed to your other fish rather than take that porcelain log ride. It's hard to find someone to take cons unless you just happen to have a remarkably beautiful pair. Take any that you like and keep them aside, the rest just feed. It's a moral dilemna I know, I hate doing it with my cichlids (guppies. . . who cares) but it's better than flushing them b/c you have too many.

JMHO
you should never ever ever flush unwanted fish, it is irresponsible, if you must be rid of them freeze them and throw them in the trash
