fry overload!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah.. thats what i meant. What ill do is add some more floating plants so they have a decent shot at survival and so only the good strong ones make it. This way i won't feel like im killing them and i wont have to deal with 30+ births a month.

One more question though, I heard taht if you dont keep the lights on at least 12+ hours a day, the fry could have spine problems when they mature. Is this true?

i dont think so, it doesnt make any sense to me. unless fish make vitamin d from the skin

I have no problem letting fry fend for themselves. That's how it is in the wild.
After keeping guppies, I personally hate livebearers. Will never keep guppies or platies. Only molly I would keep is sailfin. I would maybe keep halfbeaks though.

How big is your tank? I would just let the fry fend for themselves and let them go. I keep guppies as feeders in a 5g, there's probably 100+ babies in there right now. Some die, some don't. After a month or two they end up as food.

If you want to keep live bearers and not have babies you're going to have to keep only males. From my experience, the babies are usually mostly females.

Its a 16 gallon. I'll let them hide for their lives. Don't really have another option. Yeah. The thing is i used to have all males but they kept fighting, then one died, and i said to heck with it. They're gettn some ladies.

i had a tank with guppys and they kept breeding so i wuold just net the babies and throw em in the pond and hope they can fend against the goldfish
