You can take him to fish gallery in dallas for some store credit as your last resort. Very nice store and very nice staff.

Don't feed crickets as a staple-- more as a fun food than anything. They have no nutritional value whatsoever. Hikari food sticks or cichlid sticks (if you're on a tight budget) make for much better food. Krill is great, though! Why on earth won't your 180g be ready for 2 months?
Honestly I did the first month i had him. I was not ready for him when I got him. I feel that I am now, but the reason the 180 wont be ready soon is that -we're moving, going on vacation in july, paying for a cruise thats next year, and saving for a car-and I just cant bring myself to drop the $800 + needed to get the tank going. I have a tank, stand and light, no filters or heaters or deco just the tank and an arowana.

Yeah... that'll do it, I guess. Pick up a canister filter off of Craigslist for $100, pick up 3 bags of play sand from Walmart for $10, and a giant floating plant for $15 from petsmart. You won't have much waste at all with only one fish that small, so you don't need anywhere near perfect filtration-- if you get a vacation feeder or have a nice neighbor, you can most definitely keep him. Nearly all fish can live for at least a week without food (don't push it too much, though). If you get like 5 dozen ghost shrimp right before you leave, you don't have to worry about the flake feeder run out anyways..

I live in San Antonio, and I've never needed a heater-- I keep some tanks in front of the window-- sunlight is the best and cheapest heater, and in the summer, there's no way you need to start with a heater anyways.

Love that store!! I live over in Lewisville and go out to the Fish Gallery just to look! That 2000g inspired alot of choice's Ive made as far as deco and stock.

Hilltop-- I have already been looking!!

OK! well, I am going to work and will be busy till wed. I will check this at night only. If any local MFK has a offer (trade or cash) it will be highly considered!! EXCEPT if you want to trade for a lg fish! I do not have a tank for lg fish right now!!!
