Thanks guys. I definitely don't want to sell. I just sold off all my red hooks and tiger sd instead of this guy but unfortunately now that they're gone he's striking at the clown loaches. Getting back into rays so I just can't risk it.
Hmm not to jinx myself but he has been behaving very well and the loach is healing quickly. Maybe he was just acting out a bit with the tank change. If all continues to go well I'm going to hold onto him.
Mine are smaller. 3 remain of original 5 and they are smaller, ~6". My first experience with tigers. I was told and read they don't pay attention to any large enough tank mate they don't consider prey. Is this not the case here?
Depends on the tiger.... I have to be very careful with mine because he is a Brevis instead of a vittatus .. They are known to specifically tear off tails and take bites out of the floating dead prey... And watching him rip chunks of tilapia in half without slowing down... It's pretty sweet.
The clown loaches are 3-4" and fat. Small but certainly too large to swallow. The tiger sd and red hooks were 4-6" and round so not easy prey either. My previous vatf and gatf never caused issues while I had them but have been told the gatf is now a biter.
