The mahseers appear to be algae eaters. The photo at the beginning of the thread shows the pond walls covered with a carpet of algae. Now that the mahseers have been there for several weeks all the algae disappeared. Originally I thought it was due to the water chemistry but this evening when I was feeding them a burst of bright green poo shot out from one of them. Definitely algae in their stomach. Interesting.

I'm going to give it another month. I think they're still too small and might get sucked into the drain like the stupid mosquito fishes..

can you put a larger mesh screen around the parameter of the intake so the mosquito fish can do their thing? are the bambusa growing fast?

Yeah. I guess I can have the welder at work build me a stainless steel intake for the bottom drain. I think the mosquito fishes are multiplying. Plants would help but never got around to it. The bambusa are growing pretty fast and I'm sure it will grow faster in the pond.

It's made by WLim Products. I'm one of his distributors.
Stan at Waimanalo Feed on Oahu use to have them. It's like 12 feet long x 8 feet wide and 4 feet deep.

So what does a set up like that sell for?

It'd be interesting to only bury it half way in the ground, install a viewing window and then landscape around the rest so that it looks decent. That way you could view the fish from the side like in an aquarium.

Pond $2290
Pump $339
Leaf Trap $75
40 W UV $369
Skimmer $76
Filter ???

I was going to cut windows in my spare one but thought it was too difficult because of the compound surface. I'm thinking about an outside aquarium as well.
