Full body shot Tilapia

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hello,
very nice !
Looks like my O.mossambicus.
These are called "gold" or "red" and no idea if were hybrids or not.
The huge Tilapia with the same colour which are breed for food are hybrids with O.niloticus.
I keep mine with the stingrays, they like stingray-poo allot :screwy::grinno:

Beautiful.
I believe there are naturally occurring pink (or xanthic) O. mossambicus but most are also out of food fisheries and crossed with other Oreochromis sp..
There's no way to tell on looks alone but you have a stunning fish either way.

Confused me here-Sorry

Do you think mine is pure or hybrid?

Based upon the numerous ones that we have in the rivers here, I believe that you have an hybrid...

Hello,
the thing is nobody knows if alle "other coloured" O.mossambicus are bred out of hybrids or not.
I mean thats like the thousands generation, so who knows.
But if u breed these with normal or golden O.mossambicus u get allot of O.mossambicus in both colours because bodyshape is the same.
