In wahoo fishing, I normally know to avoid fishing within 24 hours of the moon. The 5 to 7 days prior to, and 2 to 5 following the moon are usually the best times to catch in my experience.

Oddly enough, as I was bass fishing today, and doing awful, I realized today is the day of the full moon!

Which also sparked another thought, my fat ass bass were not as gluttonous this morning. Has anybody else noticed this? My AI prime HD light claims to adjust blue moon lighting realistically per the moon cycle. Really wondering if they just ate a lot last night, or if they are actually affected by this full moon. I went crazy check in my water this morning wondering why the hell they were not acting normal. I suppose tomorrow shall answer that question.

Hhmmm good question. I would think some fish it may effect but not all. Depends on if the fish goes by moon cycles I would guess.

I don’t think aquarium fish go by moon cycle. There are no changes in current during tides or anything like that in our tanks.

I am not sure how much tidal changes have to do with it. Wahoo are a pelagic fish, so how much can a coastal tide affect them? Same thing with LMB fishing. How much ebb and flow is happening in a small puddle housing a big ol cow. I really don’t know, but what I do know is my bass ate this morning like they had two asses

I havent noticed a drop in my catches in the ponds on the moons and don’t think that it affects the fish that much they might be put off by the bright moonlight. Some of my best surf fishing has been on the moons when the current is running its hardest. Anyways I still don’t think that our aquarium fish are in anyway tuned in with the moon phase.

Sometimes it is easier for fish to spot boats and fisherman during the full moon, this is where the myth likely comes from

I have often heard the theory that during the full moon fish can see better at night and hence feed more at night and less in the day. I have not done a ton of night bass fishing, but anecdotally it seems to be better during a full moon.

Night fishing is fun, especially in areas that get a lot of pleasure boat traffic during the day

The moon does have its effects and many freshwater and saltwater fish and animals but does it really effect aquarium fish which may never see a light that resembles moon light or will it if you do have a light. It would have to be timed perfect with when the moon rises and sets every day. Maybe they can feel the moons gravitational pull just like high and low pressure systems which will trigger spawning in some aquarium fish. I think this is one of them mystery’s you’d have to document for along time to really know the answer to.

I love fishing for bass and stripers at night on top water baits. They seem to home in on the lures better on full moons. As fore my kells. They don't care what the moon looks like.
