Nice looking setup, are those leaves in the tank?

Yes, oak leaves. 2 garbage bags full.

Looks great.

So you just dumped in a bunch of oak leaves? How much and how quickly did it affect your ph?

Thanks!! Plucked them off the tree, put them in garbage bags and then dumped them right in the tank. My water is pretty damn hard and very alkaline. pH dropped from 8.4 to 7.8 over the course of 24 hours. It looks like that's about as good as it's going to get. I;m going to hook the RO unit back up. That should help drop the pH even more.

Stunning!! IMO the tannins look great, and the fish seem very calm and nicely coloured.

The tanins really bring out the warmer tones in the fish; reds, orange & yellows. Unfortunately it also tend to mask the red and orange. Yellow and gold are by far and away the colors that nearly glow.

The tanins also do seem to affect the fishes mood. They are less aggressive. I've also noticed that torn fins tend to heal more quickly.

It's funny, the rays really don't seem to care about burrying themselves in the leaves. They do like to get in them and flap about which creates quite a mess for a few minutes.

Oddly, the rays seem to like to eat the leaves. Not a lot but I do see them munching on them occasionaly.

man,how did you do it

Like I mentioned earlier, collected a bunch of leaves and just dumped them in. It takes about 24 hours for them to water log and sink.

Just make sure your leaves are dead and dry before adding them!

So that wasn't too much of a ph change too quickly? Not even for the rays??? That would have scared me.

I guess you're going to take them out before they start to decay?

Your tanks looks nice! It reminds me of the fall.
