Occasionally I have this urge to make the people at petco feel dumb, so I go in there pretending I have NOOOO idea how to take care of a fish. Today the fish I "didnt know about" was bichirs. One goofball actually tried to convince me it was A-OK to put 4 bichirs in a 20 gallon for LIFE!
I just smiled politely and said thank you so much for your load of crock and went on my merry way, but not before I told him of the proper tank sizes and let him take a "gander" at a book on polypterus'. Tomorrow it will be ghost knifes. Tune in.

If its a chain like that, then so be it, as although I would like for them to know thier stuff, and don't get me wrong some really do, I don't expect them to. To some it's just a job bc they need money therefore they don't know, just as you don't expect a fast food worker to know the ingredients and additives that go into their foods...and also I'm guessing the chains probably know the truth on the fish they sell, but thier main motive is profit first, which is partly the reason I think the tank size. min and max fish sizes are wrong. Unless it's some specialty fishstore, I really don't expect differently....and shouldn't this be in the lounge instead?
