Yeah, never mind the fact that PetCo finds homes for countless animals each year. I'm not saying that they always treat their animals the proper way, but walking in there and trolling them is pretty retarded.

Okay, you know. Petco, dogs, cats, birds. Awesome. That's okay, most people know what the big thing is on those guys. I am talking about fish. That's it. Fish. And what does it matter if they find a home for a (fish) if the home sucks!? If you put an oscar in a 20 gallon tank for the rest of its life it might as well be dead.

Sure hope you don't do the same on this forum. Why not spend your energy doing something worthwhile?

Im so frustrated that I dont even care anymore. I'm not even that mean to the people at the store. I only get really pissed when they blow me off. Thats just the best.

no need to backpedal. Surely you didn't expect to get nothing but positive feedback........

You know, I wasnt expecting all the crap I got from this thread and I regret ever posting it. My only point is if you're going to hire someone at a petstore and you're going to put them in a certain area of the store. Make sure they know SOMETHING. There is no "Petco is bad." "They give homes to animals, oops I overlooked that." Just the employees. Most of them I've met have been very informative, and honest telling me they're not sure. But the people I'm talking about are the occasional few that will just LIE TO YOUR FACE and tell you that they KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT when they DONT.

By all means post what you want, I'm not reading this thing anymore its dead.

If your parents told you that rain was pigeon piss your entire life, you would probably convey the same information when asked by others. My point here being that it is not the employee's fault that they do not know as much as some of us here on MFK do. The information they give out was taught to them in whatever booklet they use to train the staff there. Now, I know you're going to argue that they can take the initiative to learn, but there is no incentive to do so. Realistically, they make a little more than minimum wage.

Let's say you had a minimum wage job at MacDonald's and I was asking about your products. Would you know what kind of cow was used in the burgers? No. Would it be possible for you to find out if you spent some time to learn? Probably. Would you spend your time learning the origin of your beef for the customers that want to know? No.

Getting the point? We're not saying that the Petco staff is perfect, or even competent at times. We're saying that you were not tactful in trying to educate them. Let me put that in the vernacular for you- and I'll need to quote Repair here- you were being an ass. Do you think the employees want to listen to you when you act like an ass? Probably not. You are doing nothing to facilitate better care for the fish. If you truly care about the welfare of the fish, treat the employees with respect and they may care enough to retain some of the information you gave them and pass it on.
