First water change after installing the goods.

I'm happy with the slow flow and the decent spread of the spraybars, I was mainly interested in diffusion of the current and not having plants get blown around. I've killed more plants than agent orange, so I need all the help I can get lol.

Ive got a 50w heater on the left and a 100w heater on the right, both are set at 80* and the tank is staying a constant 78* according to a real glass thermometer, not some adhesive backed strip. I had to pop the dials and tops off the heaters, so who knows if my dumb*** got the knobs indexed right anyway haha

I think next time I service the filters I'll swap out the 50w for a 150w. Then I'll have a 100w and 150w or 250w total, which I think is reasonable for a 40b.

Cool DIY, Mud!

Wonder how much flow that heater installation actually impedes?

I actually just clocked the GPH.

It was 115gph, full of media, packed with filter floss on the bottom, and about a month with out a cleaning.

Not too shabby, I read on a couple other sources that people were getting about 170-180gph with the stock plumbing.

So I've got 2 on the 40b. Thats roughly 230gph or almost 6 times per hour turnover. That's perfect on a planted tank. I've got tons of bio media, the water is crystal clear, and the plants arent being destroyed by current
