Well, the fuzz is growing longer and more abundant. Hmmm....

Show us a pic

I got that on one of the driftwood in my 235gal. It went off by a week or two. It looked like the Ancistrus ate it, but I'm not sure.

Here is the white fuzz pic

Anyone have this problem? I can see what looks like white fungus growing on my african driftwood. What is this and how do I eliminate it? I have never seen it before on any of my other driftwood, just in the planted tank. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

No, that is a fungus, methylene blue should kill it if you want to go that route.

Howdy,

That is fungus, not the "good" kind. Are you sure this wood is safe for aquarium use? I would not treat the entire tank with fungizide! Instead, take the wood out, scrub it down real well, and boil it for 10 min. If the fungus comes back, I would think twice about putting it back in. Even if you treat with fungizide or sterilize by boiling, the wood remains to be the problem. Fungus comes back, if it has food ...

It is african driftwood. The bast as far as Im concerned becaus eit does not rot like malaysian. I have tons of it in other tanks, its only this one peice in the lanted tank thats doin it, but it is slowly going away now.

I was told but not recommended to try this, add 5 teaspoons of aquarium salt to the tank, well so far most of my algea and alot of the fungus are gone, all fish survived, woo hoo.
