Fungus on my AUL! Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did a bit of reading again and decided to use Kanamycin (Seachem Kanaplex) combined with Nitrofurazone (API Furan-2).

Had to order online from Amazon as I couldn't find Kanaplex locally and Furan-2 was way too expensive for my almost 700l tank. Used express shipment so they'll arrive by the 28th guaranteed.

In the mean time I'll continue using MB to try and mitigate the illness. It's a tough fish so it'll last till the meds come. Really pray they do the trick. Never had so many issues with a fish before.

Awesome!

I raised an AUL from 2013 to 2016. It grew from six inches to 3 feet in that time.

My fish had a bit of fungus on a few occasions. I learned that if I raised the water temp to about 88 F, did 20% water changes every day for a week, and added 1 tbs of aquarium salt per 10 gallons of water, that the fungus would be gone completely in 1-2 weeks.

I always found fungus likely if my Eheim 2260 or sump needed cleaning.

A couple old video of my AUL:

2 doses of API's Furan-2 together with 4 doses of Seachem's Kanaplex (they recommend only a max of 3) seems to have done the trick. No more residue left. If by any chance if comes back again, I definitely know which meds to use. Thanks everyone for the advice!

yay! So glad to hear that it worked. Glad your Lungfish is feeling better and doesn't have the fungus anymore.:)

This.

Fungus dies at higher temps, as long as it is fungal based infection and not bacterial. Its pretty easy to clear just by raising temps, no salt required but it won't hurt if fish can tolerate it.
