Funky smell in my fish room

sorry, it means remove 1/3 of the aquarium water (approx. 40 gallons) and replace it with dechlorinated tap water once per week.

only 1 time per day?////well how much should i feed them if only 1 time per day?

you should be able to feed them and have them consume all the food in a few minutes.

if you come back 6 or 8 minutes later and there is till food floating around, you have put too much in.

a good rule of thumb when starting out is this:

take what you THINK is the right amount of food and then add HALF of this amount.

after awhile you will learn with experience how much to feed.

it will come with time.

Do a water change once a week. Change out 30-50% of the water. I do a weekly 50% myself.

Also, look for BGA. BGA can also cause bad smell. It will usually be a bluish green in color, and be slimy, and can really stink.
