I really dont understand why people think there aquariums are worth so much. There was a 75 gallon for $650 recently, Ahhhh ok! You must be joking......A 55 for almost $200?? You can set up a brand new 55 for close to $250 if you shop around. Lets stick to the $1 per gallon rule on used tanks and then ask 15-30% of original cost on equipment depending on age and condition. So that $40 heater is worth like $15 unless you have a Hydor inline heater, then its worth a little more because its just a bad ass heater. Dont put value on your stupid no fishing signs, your pink gravel and castles etc.....There garbage. Most of the equipment that is to be purchased in this town is soooo over priced it makes a person sick! When your filters are 3 years old + there value is diminished greatly, I dont care if your Fluval canister from petsmart was $220, I can buy it new on line for almost a $100 less.....So I think all you people...you know who you are can keep your tanks or get in the real world and drop your prices...Thanks, Happy Tuesday

When I started picking up all my tanks I have now the first bunch of sell offs going into the recession were very realistic but in the last 6 months it has become ridiculous people selling an empty used 20 plus year old 55 gallon tank for 300 dollars silicon shot leaks and all the trim is busted up.

I can get a new 55 gallon tank for 60 bucks, lol. Some of these people don't know what they have either. A guy was trying to sell me a 150 gallon tank for almost 300 and when he told me the dimensions I was like, "BUDDY YOU HAVE A 55 GALLON TANK!" He said no way he "payed for a 150 gallon tank", WOW! WOW!

Yeah, it's super cheap to put together your own tank these days. I mean.....You can get a brand new marineland 75 gallon tank for $75 all day long at an LFS.

You just have to remember, most of the people on Craigslist list high and expect to be haggled down. But the prices fo rthe most part are a bit out of control.

How could you mix a 55 with a 150 up? I mean I always laugh when ppl post in there titles HUGE fish tank and it ends up being a 55 or something but damn! Its funny to me....I just want to email the ppl and explain to them how ridiculous it is.

I have had it happen to me. Responded to an add, person insisted tank was 150 gallons but I asked if they could give me the dimensions so I could confirm, it was a 55.

I envy you guys who find great deals, only things I ever see are 125 gallon reef tanks covered in algae for a "bargin" price of $2000, dontcha know they paid 3K for it 5 years ago, so it's a fair price ... ugh

Ya reef tanks always make me laugh. Ppl where im from always ask crazy prices. I guess they think because they bought some salt and rock its crazy expensive!

I wish I could get a new 75 for a dollar a gallon, must be nice. Around here they sell used tanks at a dollar a gallon up to 55 gallon tanks, then they start going up again.

There's a whole thread going on funny CL ads too btw - http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...slisters-Hard-to-believe&highlight=craigslist

Well a lot of people do invest a lot in a setup. They just don't realize that selling it they'll never recoup there investment. If you watch CL you will see if they really want to sell it there price will come down. I saw an ad for a 125g glass tank complete setup with Oak stank for $100.00 which I thought was a good deal I almost jumped at it. But after looking back at older ads he originally was asking $350.00 and each week he kept dropping the price to $250.00 then $200.00 then to $100.00.

Yeah I have seen ad's in Orlando and Tampa for 125gal tanks for $1,000 dollars and most of the time not even the full set-up. It is true you def. don't get your investment back which is why I don't bother trying to sell any tanks anymore - instead they go to storage and I set them up when I need something new or have more space.
