Hey everyone. Well, I used to have an ornate bicher but he jumped out of the tank and died. It was about 8 inches long. Anyways, I was at my LFS and saw 2 albinos for sale. One of them you could tell was an albino with red eyes. The other kind of stumped me. It looked like an albino but was just a little bit darker. It also had black colored eyes. Looking at them, the only difference was the color of their eyes and the one with the black eyes was just a touch darker. I wish I had taken a picture but I'm probably going to by the one with the black eyes and then I will post a picture. From my description, can anyone tell me what it might be?

could be lecustic (spelling) lack of color pigment instead of no color pigment. they are commonly called platinum and usually are the rarest form of fish. there are everything from platinum aros, to RTC and obviously birchirs. they are usually HUGE money and if they dont charge atleast 10X more id say it prob a steal. just dont see them ever really

I hope it is rare. He wants $12 for it so I'll win either way. The only thing wrong is it's missing an eye but it looks like it happened a long time ago because it looks healed. I'll try to get it tomorrow and take some pictures.

guy was just selling platinum sengal birchir in CA for 500... id say grab him and post pics. they atre quite noticably different than albino as they are well platinum white instead of pinkish. i have no love for albinos but id love to get my hands on certain platinum fish. id be very surprised if it was and nobody realized the fish is a lot rarer but i have seen it happen.

You say it was darker than an albino?

If so it's not a platinum. Platinums are pure white, not dark. But you may have a mutation, which would be really cool, because I've never seen a yellow Senegal with black eyes!

Breed it. Where are the pics!?

I've seen some crazy piebald senegals that had pitch dark eyes and a creamy body. Just the result of mass breeding.

You are only wanting it because its rare? That's not very nice! :p it may be a pale Senegal. I have a very white Senegal but its nothing special I got it for next to nothing also so that's a bonus :p

Actually, I love to get another bicher since my ornate commited suicide so I'm getting this one because it's different. I've seen albinos at my my lfs but haven't seen any ornates for awhile. I'll post some pics when I get home.
