you got to be kidding me i'm not new to this i have a 180 in my basement and two 125 gals , a 75 and a 55 gal, going to purchase a 300 gal long when i move , so upgrading is nothing, i had 14 caribes in it for longer than a year and only had two casualties , but for other reasons. Sand if its kicked up and gets in your inlet it can jam up and mess up motors, trust me I own 7 canisters buddy and i had to get parts because of sand, but do what you like i just been doin this for to long.frontosablkrhom;3153893; said:

you dont have to use ''white'' sand, they have darker shades and you could mix in black sand for a cool effect much more natural than gravel. gravel isnt natural at all. but hey if its what you like then enjoy.
what size tank are you planning on putting your caribe in? theyll have that 125 outgrown in 8 months..with a good feeding schedule. possibly 6
