Hey been awhile just set up a 180 grow out with orino pass and arrowana Adonis pleco and a chocolate albino Gibbs
In a year I am going to move all fish but some redhooks and the plecos to a 350-450 tank.
My question is how many large to medium sized pleco can be add to the 180g. Here are some that I wish to add
1. Large p.gibbaceps

2. Three becone

3. Cactus pleco

4. Snowball plec

5.orange check pinecone pleco

6. Vampire pleco

7. Magnum

8. Rhino

Now for the small to medium

1. Clownpleco 3
2. Queen asbeth?

3. Green phantom

Filtration would consist of arena xp4 and a ac110. Substrate is natural sand and Devore is River rock and driftwood plus a few fake plants.
May also add a group of tiger silver dollars too maybe 5 fish

What u guys think of stock and if possible what species listed good I keep maltipoles off?

Thanks for your ibpot:grinno:

i think you should get rid of the aros and pbass. add more geos/ tetras/ roseline shark. Also, an arena xp4 and a ac110 is not enough for the filtration system. plecos are messy, you need more filtration in order to have a healthy tank and fish :)

Sorry I do 20 to 30 gallon every day w/c on the system as is the arrow and bass are going to a larger tank with a sump and fx6. All that will be in this system would be plecos and dollars or other similar tetras.
I also do one 50% a week.

Try to avoid 50% water changes. Many types of plecos are stressed and a few can go into shock with a >40% water change. With frequent small water changes your complete list could work, but making sure all get enough food will be a problem. Good luck.

I do 50% WC on my pleco tank once, maybe twice a week for my datnoids and arowana. It doesnt seem to bother them a bit. I have an L075, L048, L114, L201, a couple BN and a l066.

I would seriously consider this man's input on plecos... he has hundreds, if not thousands of plecos at home!:clap Incredible collection as well!

Depends on your water chemistry coming out of your tap in relation to your tank water. Where I live now, I can get away with 70 to 80% (each WC) every 4 or 5days on some of my more delicate plecs and discus tanks. Where I lived before, anything more than 50% at a time could become dangerous for some of my delicate plecs. Understand your own tap & your capabilities with it, trial n error

Interesting.... I do literally 90% water changes on all tanks including plecos and haven't had any issues with any fish whatsoever..... although I am very careful matching temp as to not shock any fish....

Yes Vic is the Godfather of plecos!!! Glad I have several of his old pieces!!

I have a 72 gallon tank, and I do my Tank cleaning/Water Changes once every 2 weeks. I drain out between 45 to 50 gallons of water every time, and once a month, I change out all of the foam pads in my filter along with half my charcoal bags and half of my biomax. Amongst my fish are the following plecos:
1 Leopard Sailfin,
1 Green Phantom (newly acquired 4 months ago),
1 Blue Panaque (newly acquired 4 months ago),
1 Golden Nugget,
1 King Tiger.

I don't need to add any chemicals to my water, as I use my Kitchen sink (which has a charcoal filter attached (Instapure filter)), and the water parameters test out perfectly. The only thing I do add is 2 capfuls of API StressZyme (after I have completely refilled the tank). I have been doing so for almost 2 years now. I haven't seen any of my fish stressed out at all from this.
