Heres a 20 day update,


The fish is starting to get used to the diet I serve and is coming along nicely.

I'm still not sure what color it's going to be but I like what I see!

I can definitely see traits from both as you say but I also see pearling that I've not seen on another FH without texas blood.
i.e. net pearls on head and worm pearls through body.
It seems like most of the faders have the orange face, bright pink center area, and orange back end.
This fish seems to follow that pattern right now but time will tell.





How many times does a midas fade?? Does anyone know a fish that fades multiple times if a midas does not? I have only had a RQ before this one and I got him when he was off the charts pink and he never faded again. When this fish was growing up it used to turn black and I thought it was environment/dominance. The weird part is it really did not change colors/pattern you could see until it hit the 10" mark. Recently the rose belly area turned black and the pearl pattern/white is taking over. I will post a couple pics later today I took last night.



And at this point I now think this is a male. His kok is returning now that he is feeding regularly but he can still be a picky eater.
for instance he loves omega one spurilina wafers, but he will only eat them when they are hard and crunchy

Of one thing we can be sure. He has Midas. ( midevil ) on him.

I have been searching for the wormy pearls but find nome. If you see yhem, than he has most probably a mite of cyanoguttattum.

Could he be red texas x midas?

Again, i see nothing Vieja in him.

All i see i a bull that would have a honour paddock in my yard

He may look large for his age, but my 1yr infant is not ready to leave the house yet


I think he could be midas/texas, or RQ/texas. He reminds me of my Rose Queens overall shape/mouth which I also think has midas in it.
I also do not see any veija traits..but he is definitely part Bull
