I havn't pursued this too much more, but I did narrow it down to Redclaws ( Cherax quadricarinatus ). The redclaws are not as aggressive and I can stock more of them together....I'm dealing with limited space.

That's the case for most shellfish, whether crustaceans or molluscs. Hard water has the calcium they need to build their shells.

Yeah...I gave up on having them to clean up after the rays. But I'll add a couple more stock tanks for them when I can.
