FW Tarpon Help!!!

I have been having trouble finding information on Tarpons. I have a chance to get two. If I could get any information that would be awesome.

Well, I assume you are talking about the Indo-Pacific Tarpon (Oxeye Tarpon, Oxeye Herring) They can reach almost 3 feet, are very skittish fish, can live in salt or fresh water, and need a lot of space...more than most fish of their size. They constantly swim, and never rest on the bottom. They are also air breathers, like Snakeheads, Bettas, and Arowanas. They might do stupid stuff like smash into the glass or even jump if they are startled.

See I was just looking to house in place of a jardini until I could find a black aro or something. I really want the aro but cant find them anywhere right now.

Do you know if they will eat pellet?

mine and the one's i've seen are not skiddish, big/small eye alike and will learn to take any food. Fine with arrows.

I assume they are fast growers... Is that true?

By "Smalleye" you mean King tarpon, the Atlantic type that can reach 8ft plus?

They need enormous amounts of space, I had a couple we grew to 3' at work.

So basically it would be worthless to resale or put in my tank for a short amount of time?

if they are the indo variety than they do not grow too fast,mine are not spooky at all,and they eat everything i have tried giving them.

I had 3 indo tarpon for a couple months. I found them to be very interesting and there was a lot of demand for them when I gave them away.
