FW to SW and Back Again?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've heard that the black tipped catfish are sold as freshwater babies and need more and more salt as they get older. Sorry, can't think of the name but they are a great silvery color with black tipped fins and a white underside

The columbian shark (catfish), Hexanematichthys seemanni (Arius jordani) does make the transition from FW to SW. However, we're looking for species that can make the transition one way then, back again on a regular basis and not for spawning migrations. That's not the case for these cats.

I believe certain types of moray eel travel into freshwater and back again.

G-Tiles.. often told as FW snowflake eels. I think are capable? Excellent thread oddball!

Actually, none of the so-called FW morays make it a routine to return to freshwater. This thread is looking to list fish that are described as amphidromous by nature.

I've also heard mixed information on Alligator Gars doing this, true or false?
