Fx-5 gurgling noise?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
try unplugging. close the valves and tilt the filter. The filter will then go through the start-up purge cycle. maybe there is just air that is locked into a location that can't release because the filter is just setting verticle.

Did you just clean the blue pad or replace it? If you just cleaned it, that is probably your issue. You can never get everything out and those stupid things clog so fast. Try running it without the blue pad and see if it changes anything.

hey. I have a 210 fw with an fx5. do you guys add aeration into the tank? I do have the output pointing to the surface making nice ripples but am curious if that's enough?

I'm new to the canister filters as I had a 55 with a hob so air wasn't an issue.

Nope! I have no air pump or airation stones and I just have 1 of the output nozzles pointed toward the surface and that causes enough surface aggitation to airate the water.

I spoke to soon, still making that annoying noise

Are you getting micro bubbles coming from the outputs?

Does the gurgling sound more like swooshing in the canister or does it sound like "bloops" (i.e bloop bloop..)

Good idea. I would also like to mention that if the proper priming method isn't followed, it can cause this issue.

Also try adding some vasoline to the FX5 lid O-Ring....

It was my air stone which is dumb cause it has always been in the same spot and the noise just started. so i unplugged it and the noise is gone. I dont know why it started but it did and it no longer makes noise.

NIIIIIICE!

Gotta love those easy and clean fixes!

congrats that it worked out...I'm sure your seeing that fx5 in your sleep as many times that you were in there! cheers!
