So Vince, would it be fair to say so fair it's a fairly shoddy filter with poor build quality, inferior to eheims?

Tank size is 330. I am using an eheim 2250 which has a spray bar and moves the water surface like a rushing river, and the FX5 which does not have a spray bar has two outputs that are seated on a ball valve and could be rotated about 180 degrees approximately. I would not compare it tot he classic eheim i am using. Two totally different filters, in that the classic is about 10 year old design, and the FX5 is fairly new. For the price, I think it is a fair filter. I think it could be cheaper. The appearance definitely shows "new design", with nice bright orange and black color. Whereas the classic ehiem I have is missing the open and close valves. I noticed the output spouts are "shaking", and not steady. I don't think it does anything other than appearance. When you look at your tank, you want to view serenity, peace, but it is annoying to see the output shaking like that. The other FX5 is going to be used for backup. I will also remove the fX5 from my 330 to use a newly refurbished 60 gallon wet and dry filter system. I think both (eheim and w/d system)complements each other. I will use the FX5 on the 240 later. It's not a bad filter, it seems to be a copy of some of the models of eheim. It'd be nicer if you could put a couple of heaters in it...making it ray friendly. So Vince, would it be fair to say so fair it's a fairly shoddy filter with poor build quality, inferior to eheims?![]()

Actually I just said that to wind you up, I might try one myself just to see what they're like.
Trying to undertand your review - not sure if its positive or negative....as for the shaking, the clips really snap in the Nozzle tight. Not sure why you have that much shaking - I certainly dont, and the flow is high. Tighten up the nozzle on the hose, I bet you can really improve it.
As for the pricing being too high - is $210 really too high these days? I dont think so, its cheaper to buy an entire setup then the spare parts...
Now for mfg. copying other mfg. designs - thats pretty obvious across the board. Its easier to copy and improve whats out in the market, to gain quick market share. Thats not limited to the filter industry, its universal. Dont be surprised to see similarities in next generation Eheims, Renas, etc....in the future
my review is not intended to be negative or positive. it is a review or observation of the one FX5 I installed. I have another one that I will be using for my 240. I just state objectives and subjectives....I am not here to so that everyone will like me
just sharing ideas and criticism. no biggie, for the price, i think it is a good filter, see how it does in the long run, it is too new. But the eheims that are expensive are also complete with all the filter media.my review is not intended to be negative or positive. it is a review or observation of the one FX5 I installed. For example; the shaking of the nozzle - I think its totally fixable and not the big deal you made it out to be. Neither is the price point or the fact that Eheim includes media along with their higher prices- like thats a good thing. You failed to mention that the FX5 media is inexpensive and costs very little to fill the FX5 with it. You dont have to like the filter at all, thats totally ok. Its what you dont say that leaves the impression of something more than what it is....
