FX5 AND FX6 COMBATIVITY??

Can you interchange the connections between them? I want to move my seasoned cannister to new tank but use the FX6 tubes and connectors.....them of course put the currently dry FX6 cannister under my existing tank with current tubes and connections. Thank you!!
 
are cannister same exact size....height is what matters to me.

Yes it should work perfectly they are essentially identical in that regard.

Is the fx6 taller? I am thinking of just pulling two trays of media to help cycle new tank. The media baskets are the same right??...Should definately speed things along!
 
I don’t know I think they are quoting the box size in one table and the filter size in another but the filters are identical in size.

The hoses and connectors are interchangeable. I switched my seasoned FX6 to a new tank, and put a second-hand FX5 in its place. No problems. Photo is of the FX5 hooked up to the FX6 connectors.
